Flower City Solutions is me, Michael Donovan, a developer in Rochester with seven years of building systems for real problems. No sales team and no handoffs. The person you talk to is the person who builds it.
I started out in accessibility technology. That work taught me how people actually communicate and get things done, which is usually not how the software assumes they do.
Over the years I watched small businesses get pushed into the same corner. Here's a platform, here's a subscription, here are a dozen features you'll never use, and here's the invoice. The bigger cost was the compromise: owners reshaping how they work around tools that were almost right, because the alternative was a developer they couldn't afford.
That has changed. Today one person can build software for one specific business problem without a team, a big budget or a year-long roadmap. It still takes someone who understands the problem and wants to get it right.
That's the job I do. I sit down with you, figure out what you need and what you don't, price it honestly, build it cleanly, and hand it over so your team can use it. You own it: no surprise price hikes and no paying rent on your own tools.
Other things I've built
Before Flower City Solutions I built a $9 equipment tracking system that replaced paper and spreadsheets for tens of thousands of dollars of department equipment, along with speech recognition and transcription tools. Those projects are on my personal site.
